The "King of Plants" β see the giant Raffaeldia palm. Rent a bike (Β₯30) or take the electric train to cover more ground.
Cultural immersion into Dai ethnic minority traditions. Traditional Dai houses (ζ¨ζ₯Ό β raised wooden houses with thatched roofs), silver workshops, traditional medicine demonstrations, and live performances. The Mekong (ζΎζ²§ζ±) flows through Xishuangbanna. Take a boat tour to experience life along the river β riverside villages, rice paddies, fishermen. Sunset cruises (Β₯50-80) offer golden light and views of the city. Longer trips (2-3 days) go to the border with Laos. Check if cruise boat crosses border β can combine with Laos visa-free transit.

Sweet mango served over coconut sticky rice. Classic Thai-Dai dessert, perfect breakfast or snack. Available at markets and casual restaurants. "Thai Restaurant" near the bus station makes an excellent version.
Spicy, sour hot pot with local vegetables, herbs, and freshwater fish. Different from other Yunnan hot pot β uses lots of sour and fresh herbs. Green papaya (hairy papaya), lemon grass, and chilies give it distinctive flavor.
